Preparations for new students starting school

Enrollment in a school outside the designated school attendance area
If you are intending the enrollment of your child who is starting elementary or junior high school in April next year in a school outside the designated school district, you need to request your intention to the division. You will be informed of your child's designated school in the notice letter of enrollment that will be sent to you in mid-September. Approval for the out-of-school district enrollment will only be permitted for special reasons such as definite plan to move to a new residence in the requesting school district.

▶Elementary schools: Kashiwa Ichi, Kashiwa San, Kashiwa Nana, Hikarigaoka, Tanaka, Tanaka-Kita, Yutaka, Asahi-Higashi, Takayanagi,and Kashiwanoha
▶Junior High Schools: Kashiwa Ni, Tanaka, and Kashiwanoha
※The following individuals may apply between Tuesday, September 16 and Wednesday October 15. Those who have older siblings attending school as of April 1, 2026, or those who are attending elementary school outside their school district and wish to continue attending junior high school in that school district after finishing elementary school.

※If the number of applicants exceeds the availability, enrollment will be selected by draw. Whether or not a lottery will be held will be announced on Friday, October 31 on the Kashiwa City website.

Notification of results
Once the application for enrollment in a school outside the designated school district is accepted, the Schools and Education Division will send a notice of enrollment for the school.

Medical checkups for starting of school
Children starting the first year at elementary school in April, 2026 will have medical checkups. Please confirm the details in the information sheet enclosed with the letter of notice for school enrollment, which will be sent out in mid-September, and have your child take the health checkups.

Taking application for certified childcare centers and kindergartens for the next school year

The certified childcare centers (type 1 certification, educational use) and private kindergartens in Kashiwa city will be distributing the application forms for enrollment starting on Monday, September 1.

For pensioners with low income, support payment is offered. Japan Pension Service will send out an application form around September to pentioners who are newly eligible to receive the subsidy. Those who have already been receiving the subsidy payments do not need to follow the procedure.

We provide subsidies for entrance examination fees for universities and vocational schools. The subsidy is available to those who are equivalent to third-year high school students or 19 years old as of the date of application.
Eligible households
The household in which the entrance examination fees for universities and vocational schools are covered by the eligible person or their guardian after April 1, 2025 and falls in any of the criteria.
▶Receiving child-rearing allowance for single parents
▶All members of the household are exempt from resident tax for FY 2025.
▶The total income amount of the guardian for FY 2024 is 2.76 million yen or less.

The results of the census will be used in a wide range of areas, including the formulation of national laws and plans, regional revitalization, and community development.
